Born from the Formisano family’s passion for food and Italian traditions, the company was first founded by Sandro Formisano and his father, Mario in Turin. It was here that they worked together to identify the best beans from across the globe, and took nine months to create the two expertly balanced blends, ‘Monza’ and ‘Monte Carlo’, for which their heritage brand, to this day, is still distinguished.

Originally from the agriculturally rich, Marche region of Italy, both father and son had previously worked in the food industry, supplying UK restaurants with all the best Italian produce and equipment. It was whilst working alongside these restaurants that they soon realised the demand for not just traditional Italian foods, but also authentic and outstanding tasting, Italian coffee.

This discovery lead Sandro to become the UK ambassador for world renowned coffee machine manufacturers, La San Marco. Leader’s in the industry and creators of several historical milestone technologies in the evolution of coffee making – this was the perfect place for Sandro to hone his knowledge and passion for not just coffee – but the entire process behind making the perfect espresso.

Today, Azzurro is run by Sandro’s son, Mario Formisano, who splits his time between UK and Italy – where all of Azzurro’s coffee beans continue to be hand-roasted. As a quality lifestyle brand, Azzurro now supplies not only two brilliant coffee blends, but also a selection of fine teas, rich hot chocolates and some of the most reliable and prestigious coffee machines and equipment in the world.
